Setting up the Call Blocking switches
In order for Hiya to successfully identify and block calls, you will need to enable the three Hiya switches in the “Settings” app on your iPhone. The Hiya app will let you know that these switches need to be enabled and will present you with this screen:
In most cases, pressing the “Go To Settings” button will take you directly to the screen in iOS Settings that has the switches. That screen looks like this:
Make sure those three switches are turned on and you’re good to go! When you go back to the Hiya app you will be able to set up a custom block list, customize your blocking settings, and enable Neighbor Scam protection.
The plot thickens!
Sometimes when you first install or upgrade to the latest version of Hiya those switches will not be there...
What is going on? 😱
There is a defect in iOS that affects some iPhones and results in the Call Blocking switches not appearing in the iOS Settings app. Unfortunately Hiya has no control over this but the good news is that this bug will resolve itself relatively quickly (usually within an hour)! Sometimes it could take as long as 24 hours but these are rare cases from what we’ve seen.
If the “Go To Settings” button doesn’t work properly, you can try to navigate there on your own:
- Launch the Settings app:
- Select “Phone”
- Select “Call Blocking & Identification”
Note: Some people don’t see the “Call Blocking & Identification” option at all - this is one possible result of that same defect. We know it can be frustrating! We have informed Apple of this defect. In the meantime, check back after an hour or so and you should be good to go!
