How to activate and de-activate the Call Screener feature in the Hiya app for iPhone

How to activate Call Screener in the Hiya app for iPhone.

Call Screener is a Premium feature, so be sure you have an active Premium subscription before proceeding.

  1. Open the Hiya app
  2. Tap on the "Settings" tab
  3. Tap on "Activate Call Screener" at the top 
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts until you see a 'success' screen with a 🎉 emoji
  5. You are done, and will now be protected from spam/scam calls, voicemails, and know why an unknown caller is calling you!

How to de-activate Call Screener

Using the Hiya app

If you would prefer to disable this feature entirely and revert to receiving voicemails in your iPhone's default "Phone" app, then please follow the steps below - if you complete the steps below then the voicemail protection feature will be deactivated, and new voicemails will become available to your default Phone app once again.

  1. Open the Hiya app
  2. Tap on the "Settings" tab
  3. Tap on "Deactivate Call Screener" (red text)
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts
  5. After completion, you will be navigated back to the "Calls" tab

Without using the Hiya app

You do not need to have the Hiya app installed on your iPhone in order to deactivate the voicemail protection feature. If you have uninstalled the Hiya app without first deactivating the voicemail protection feature, you must disable conditional call forwarding in order to receive voicemails on your iPhone. 

  1. Find your wireless carrier in the table below
  2. Open the default Phone app on your iPhone
  3. Enter one of the Deactivation Codes below that matches your wireless carrier
  4. Press the Call button
  5. Follow any on-screen prompts

Are you getting text messages from Hiya?

You may have received a text message from Hiya informing you that there is new activity in the Hiya app. This is due to the fact that you likely have unopened voicemails waiting for your review in the Hiya app. Please open the Hiya app and navigate to the "Calls" tab.
